The debut date for the premium portable gaming console, the Asus ROG Ally, has been revealed.

The release date for Asus ROG Ally has been officially confirmed and it is set to launch on May 11 at different times across the world. This Taiwanese manufacturer’s first handheld gaming console is expected to be powered by AMD’s recently unveiled Ryzen Z1 and Ryzen Z1 Extreme chipsets, which have been specifically designed for handheld gaming consoles. Here is what is currently known about the ROG Ally.

According to reports, the Asus ROG Ally will be equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen display that will provide Full HD+ resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen will also feature Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The device will come preloaded with the Windows 11 OS.


The ROG Ally will be available in APU options, such as Ryzen Z1 and Ryzen Z1 Extreme. The standard Z1 variant features a CPU with six cores and twelve threads, as well as four RDNA-3 compute units for graphics. The Z1 Extreme version features an upgraded CPU boasting eight cores and sixteen threads, along with twelve RDNA 3 compute units for graphics.





Both APU variants of the ROG Ally come with 16 GB of DDR5 RAM and 512 GB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. The device also has a microSD card slot for additional storage. The power button of the device is integrated with a fingerprint scanner that works with Windows Hello.


In terms of connectivity, the ROG Ally offers Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth but lacks 5G/4G LTE connectivity. Although the exact size of the battery is not known yet, the company claims that it can last for up to 8 hours on a full charge. The gaming console weighs 608 grams.
