Whether it's for our own entertainment or to predicting who will be helpful or challenging in critical situations, power ranking systems have numerous advantages. Particularly in the universe of Demon Slayer, where even the heroes can face unexpected defeat, it's important to be ready for difficult moments involving our beloved characters. And what better way to prepare than by arranging the Hashira in order of their strength rankings , from the least powerful to the most formidable.
We will discuss the strength of the Hashira, the powerful warriors in the anime series Demon Slayer. We don't want to reveal too much to avoid spoiling the upcoming exciting battles. We will only talk about the Hashira we have seen in action in the anime series ( and record-breaking film). Rest assured, you will eventually get to know all nine Hashira. Let's share our thoughts on the current members of the Hashira!"
Disclaimer: This article contains major spoilers from the manga.
9. Shinobu Kocho (The Insect Hashira)
Shinobu Kocho (The Insect Hasira) as seen in the Demon Slayer anime. (Image via Ufotable)
A lthough Shinobu Kocho is not considered physically weak, she is currently seen as less powerful compared to other members of the Hashira. This belief arises from the fact that we haven't witnessed her full display of power yet. So far, we have only seen her dealing with enemies who are weaker than Upper-Rank demons.
During her battle against a member of the Spider Family, Shinobu showcased her quick and deadly insect breathing ability. However, it remains uncertain how effective this would be against stronger demons who can easily nullify her abilities.
Furthermore, Shinobu is often seen in a more passive role, running a rehabilitation center for injured demon slayers and engaging in playful banter with her fellow Hashira, Giyuu. In comparison to Giyuu, Shinobu's strength appears subdued, as she was easily captured and put in a headlock by him.
However, it's important to note that Shinobu cleverly outsmarted Giyuu by utilizing a hidden blade in her shoe. This demonstrates that while she may lack physical strength, she compensates for it with mental fortitude and wisdom.
Considering that we will likely see more of Shinobu in the future, there is a good chance she could improve her standing. It's important not to underestimate her just yet!
What the Insect Hashira needs to focus on: Although Shinobu possesses great mental strength and wit, it would be beneficial for her to gain confidence in her physical power. This is especially important because her insect abilities may not always be effective against stronger adversaries.
8. Tengen Uzui (The Sound Hashira)
N o doubt, Tengen Uzui is a strong and dedicated member of the Hashira, willing to fight to the death. This alone makes him one of the strongest Hashira. However, it doesn't mean he surpasses our strongest soldiers.
Tengen possesses extraordinary agility and heightened senses, which helped him put up a fair fight against Gyutaro and Daki, a powerful duo. Although he emerged victorious, he faced great difficulties, losing his eye and arm in the process. This rendered him less effective in protecting the Entertainment District.
Furthermore, Tengen required assistance from three younger demon slayers and his wives, who lacked significant abilities. This suggests that even at his best, Tengen wouldn't be able to handle an Upper-Rank demon alone without risking his life.
Tengen's skills were tested against Gyutaro and Daki, but if those demons were higher in Muzan's ranks, it's unlikely he would have survived the battle.
Areas for Improvement: Tengen often relies on others and rarely operates alone. While depending on others is necessary at times, it would benefit him to develop the ability to overcome obstacles independently, rather than relying on his wives or allies.
Additionally, although his sound ability initially helped him, it was his swordsmanship that secured his victory. Therefore, focusing more on honing his sword skills could give him an advantage.
7. Mitsuri Kanroji (The Love Hashira)
M itsuri Kanroji may not appear to be a warrior at first glance. She has a cheerful demeanor, lives a carefree life, and doesn't seem serious. However, beneath her surface, Mitsuri, also known as the Love Hashira, is someone any demon should fear to face in a fight.
During the Swordsmith Village Arc, we witnessed Mitsuri's impressive skills as she effortlessly sliced through her opponents. Her unique ability to breathe love empowers her to destroy anything in her path, and her specially crafted sword aids her in executing her moves with ease.
While Mitsuri is an exceptional swordsman who can easily defeat her enemies, her true strength lies in her passion for defending those who cannot defend themselves. It is expected for all Hashira to care for others, but Mitsuri's devotion to the lives of others is truly remarkable. Her caring nature drives her to constantly strive to be the best version of herself.
We will witness more of Mitsuri's incredible abilities in the upcoming episodes. If what we have seen so far is only a glimpse of her potential, it is safe to say that she is one of the few Hashira capable of putting up a strong fight against the most powerful Upper-Rank demons.
Areas of improvement for the Love Hashira: In contrast to Shinobu, Mitsuri needs to work on building her inner confidence rather than focusing solely on her physical strength.
Mitsuri had a difficult upbringing, and her past traumas have held her back to some extent. However, if she can harness her pain and use it to fuel her growth, while also overcoming her self-doubt, there is no doubt that she can rise to the top of the ranks.
6. Kyojuro Rengoku (The Flame Hashira)
K yojuro Rengoku was like a comforting beam of light, making people feel at ease in his presence. His ability to defuse dangerous situations wasn't just due to his lively personality but also his undeniable skill.
At just 20 years old, Kyojuro surpassed his father, Shinjuro (a former Hashira), by defeating one of Muzan's followers, Enmu, with a single powerful strike. Despite Enmu having the advantage, the Flame Hashira made it look effortless, showing that with proper preparation and knowledge of his opponent, he could overpower even the strongest demons. However, Kyojuro wasn't as fortunate in his second encounter.
In the movie "Demon Slayer: Mugen Train," we witnessed an intense battle between Kyojuro and Akaza, one of Muzan's powerful Upper-Rank demons. Akaza's sudden appearance caught Kyojuro and his fellow demon slayers off guard, leaving them ill-equipped to face such a formidable opponent. Nevertheless, Kyojuro quickly analyzed the situation and used his deductions to put up a strong fight.
Kyojuro fought so valiantly that Akaza was forced to retreat due to his vulnerability to sunlight. If Kyojuro had just a bit more strength to keep Akaza in place and expose him to the light, it's likely that Akaza would have been closer to defeat than Kyojuro.
Kyojuro Rengoku sacrificed his life to save Tanjiro Kamado and his two young demon slayer friends. Although he is no longer with us, his incredible strength lives on in the memories of everyone he encountered, whether friend or foe.
What Kyojuro Could've Improved: Kyojuro had his entire future ahead of him, and we know he would have continued to grow stronger each day. The only thing we wish he had more of was time.
5.obanai iguro
I n terms of overall combat abilities, Iguro is very similar to Giyu Tomioka. However, fans believe that Iguro is stronger than Giyu because he was able to endure the fight against Muzan for a longer period compared to the other Hashiras.
It's important to note that Gyomei and Sanemi had fought against Kokushibo, while Giyu had just battled Akaza before facing Muzan. Obanai, on the other hand, faced Nakime, who was considerably weaker than Akaza and Kokushibo.
This could explain why Obanai managed to last longer than the other three Hashiras. Nonetheless, it's worth mentioning that he is incredibly powerful and put up a strong fight against Muzan.
4. Giyuu Tomioka (The Water Hashira)

I t's easier to point out Giyuu Tomioka's weaknesses than to list all of his strengths as a member of the Hashira group.
Despite being a bit socially awkward and lacking motivation, Giyuu often stands out as a leader among the Hashira because of his ability to effortlessly come to the rescue. In the first season of Demon Slayer, we witnessed him subdue a ferocious Nezuko with one arm, swiftly defeat Tanjiro, and even cut the young boy's hair with a single strike of his sword.
Furthermore, during his battle against the Spider Family, his Water Breathing technique quickly ended a seemingly impossible fight, showcasing his exceptional skills as a hero.
Although we haven't seen Giyuu in action for some time, we believe that when he returns to the battlefield, he will defeat even the most formidable enemies. He might even prove to be one of the few Hashira capable of taking down an Upper-Rank demon single-handedly. We'll have to wait and see if this prediction comes true.
One area where the Water Hashira could improve is in his social skills. This is not meant as teasing, but rather as a suggestion that working with his allies could help him sharpen his abilities. Learning from the strongest demon slayers would undoubtedly make him a more formidable warrior.
Every Hashira on the list is a formidable force, regardless of their individual strengths and weaknesses. Merely holding the prestigious title of Hashira signifies their superiority over other demon slayers and their ability to overcome demons that others have failed to defeat. Each Hashira, with their unique qualities, is more than capable of foiling the enemy's plans, which is undeniably an impressive achievement.
3. Muichiro Tokito (The Mist Hashira)
M uichiro Tokito is the youngest member (aged 14) of the current group known as the Hashira. Despite his young age, he possesses exceptional physical strength and prowess.
On the battlefield, Muichiro proves to be a formidable force. One notable instance is when he confronts Gyokko, a powerful demon with various deceptive tactics. Despite Gyokko's tricks, Muichiro showcases his skills without faltering.
During his battle against Gyokko, who is loyal to Muzan (the main antagonist), the demon hurls poisoned needles at the members of the Swordsmith Village. However, Muichiro, with his incredible agility, swiftly positions himself in front of the villagers, willingly enduring the harm on their behalf. He demonstrates unwavering determination and resilience, unaffected by the pain and poison.
Not only does Muichiro excel in fighting formidable demons, but he effortlessly handles lesser foes as well. He effortlessly dispatches Gyokko's deadly creatures by exploiting their vulnerabilities. Even while dealing with these smaller adversaries, he strategizes a way to return to the main village and confront the four-in-one demon, Hantegu. This showcases Muichiro's ability to handle multiple challenges simultaneously.
Considering Muichiro's current abilities, it is evident that he will only grow stronger over time. One can only imagine the extent of his prowess when he reaches twice his current age.
However, Muichiro faces a significant obstacle in the form of severe memory loss, which affects his mental state. These memory lapses sometimes hinder his performance. While he cannot actively retrieve his lost memories, we can only hope that if he does regain them, they prove to be a positive influence rather than a negative one.
2.Sanemi Shinazugawa
S anemi Shinazugawa is one of the most powerful swordsmen in the series. Even as a child, he was incredibly strong, hunting demons with mountain blades. He devoted all his time and effort to becoming an exceptional swordsman, which was evident in his battles against Muzan and Kokushibo.
Besides Muichiro, Sanemi and Gyomei were the only ones who could actually hurt Kokushibo. Sanemi possesses exceptional speed, strength, and endurance, making him one of the top fighters in the Demon Slayer Corps.
1.Gyomei Himejima
G yomei Himejima is considered the most powerful member of the Demon Slayer Corps in the world of Demon Slayer. This information is confirmed in the manga, where Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu all agree on his exceptional strength. This is evident from his remarkable performance during the battle against Kokushibo, the Upper Moon 1. Kokushibo himself acknowledged Gyomei's physical prowess and strength, going as far as to say that Gyomei was the strongest opponent he had encountered in the past 300 years.
